Grace Kirchner Haddad of Quogue died on May 10, 2019. She was 101.
Born in Brooklyn to Marjorie Roberts Kirchner and Walter E. Kirchner, she was raised in Floral Park, the older sister of triplets. She attended Miss Dunbar’s Secretarial School and worked at Gaumont-British Picture Corporation and Standard Oil (now Exxon). After World War II, she married George Haddad and started a family. Her oldest daughter had cerebral palsy and Mrs. Haddad became an advocate for the United Cerebral Palsy Association.
When her children were older, she returned to work as the clerk of the Quogue School. Once retired she did volunteer work at the Quogue Library and the Quogue Wildlife Refuge. She was active in the Westhampton Presbyterian Church. Survivors said she loved music, sang in the Golden Hill Chorus as a young woman and was an avid fan of Lawrence Welk. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and her church activities.
She was predeceased by her husband, George; and a daughter, Catherine. She is survived by her triplet sisters, Catherine Roth of Albany, Marguerite Miller of Pennsylvania and Frances Hornberger of Floral Park; three daughters, Jean Seyfert of Westhampton Beach, Carol Haddad of San Francisco, and Christine Haddad of Quogue; two grandchildren, Bunker and Xochitl Seyfert; and multiple nieces and nephews; and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A memorial service will be held on June 8 at 11 a.m. at the Westhampton Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Werner-Rothwell Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach.
Memorial donations may be made to the Westhampton Presbyterian Church, the Quogue Library or the Quogue Wildlife Refuge.
