Less than three weeks after a scathing article appeared in
the New York Post this summer detailing alleged illegal activity at a Southampton Village
nightspot, and charging that Village Police overlooked
violations, New York State Police and a top official from the
New York State Liquor Authority conducted a covert raid at
the establishment early last month.
Southampton Village Police Chief Thomas Cummings said the State Troopers did not notify his department in advance about the July 2 raid—something agencies typically do as a courtesy to the local force. He said that because of the allegations in the Post article, the troopers might have purposefully not alerted Village Police in an effort not to tip them off.

person who is owed a few thousand. Call it loser club nello
As far as "professionalism" goes, necessary strategy by NYSP since off-duty Village PD members were employed there -- loose lips, and all that!
More importantly, the state police notifying the village police when the village police are possibly involved would be the dumbest thing they could do. Might as well tell the underage kids what day they're raiding as well.
There's a shock...
