Willard D. Williams, known to many as “Willie,” of Southampton, died March 5 at Southampton Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was 66.
Mr. Williams had worked in the warehouse at North Sea Plumbing and Heating since the age of 16. He was well known for finding even the most unusual of plumbing parts. Reflecting his love of the fire department, he had an extensive collection of antique fire trucks and memorabilia. Survivors said he never missed a muster or a pancake breakfast and will be remembered for his big heart that touched so many people in the town he so loved.
Mr. Williams is survived by a brother, Jimmy of North Carolina; and many co-workers and friends.
A prayer service was held on March 8, officiated by the Reverend Michael A. Vetrano. Interment was at the Southampton Cemetery in Southampton. Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton.
Memorial donations may be made to the Southampton Fire Department Benevolent Fund, P.O. Box 499, Southampton, NY 11969, or to the American Cancer Society online at cancer.org.
