Jun 6, 2018 11:31 AM

An intoxicated Central Islip man who crashed into a parked car in Southampton Village was charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors after he was found to be in possession of cocaine, police said.

Samuel Daniels, 68, was arrested by Southampton Village Police at 4:40 a.m. on Friday on Hampton Road and charged with two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, DWI and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Police said Mr. Daniels was driving west in a 1998 Lexus when an officer activated his vehicle’s emergency lights to pull him over, and that’s when Mr. Daniels veered off Hampton Road and struck a parked vehicle.

An investigation revealed Mr. Daniels was intoxicated, police said, and he was in possession of both cocaine and marijuana.

Mr. Daniels was taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries, and then released into police custody. He was then processed and held for morning arraignment in Southampton Village Justice Court, where he was remanded to the Suffolk County Jail in Riverside in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.
