Southampton Village Honors Veterans On Memorial Day

Approximately 200 people participated in Memorial Day services in Southampton Village on Monday. The morning kicked off with a parade down Jobs Lane, and ended with a memorial service at Agawam Park. ERIN MCKINLEY AND DANA SHAW PHOTOS

It was a beautiful day for the parade and memorial service. Just a shame that several of the people speaking turned the event into an opportunity to preach their political beliefs rather than focusing on the purpose at hand...remembrance and gratitude.

It was a complete shock to be assaulted by a cut-and-paste Rush Limbaugh monologue while reflecting family members and friends who have perished in active duty.
