The Peconic Land Trust is looking to expand its office building at the corner of Hampton Road and Old Town Road in Southampton Village.

The plan is to enlarge the two-story office building at the front of the property on Hampton Road by constructing a two-story addition, designed by Southampton architect John David Rose, and connecting the two structures with a breezeway. The organization is also seeking to move the building to a different part of the property, as well as remove a smaller house that sits in the back corner of the piece of land. The property, just under two-thirds of an acre, is zoned for business and single-family residential use.

Additionally, the Peconic Land Trust is also seeking to install off-street parking.

But in order to do all of that, the organization needs several variances, including for property line setbacks, and it has applied for them with the Village Zoning Board of Appeals. Residents will be able to weigh in on the application at a public hearing held by the board tonight, November 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Hall board room.

Representatives from the Peconic Land Trust declined to comment on the application until after Thursday’s meeting. Gilbert Flanagan, the Southampton-based attorney representing the land preservation non-profit organization, did not return multiple calls seeking comment.

In the application dated October 29, however, Mr. Flanagan wrote that “the proposed additions are necessary in connection with the expanded activities of the Peconic Land Trust.”
