Jan 15, 2019 4:42 PM

Eileen Zagar of New York City died January 10, 2019, on Quiogue. She was 72.

Ms. Zagar was born in Greenwich Village to Edward and Martha Carpenter on July 23, 1946. She and her husband, Mirko, owned and operated Mirko’s restaurant in Water Mill, for just shy of 30 years. Survivors said she truly cherished the restaurant business and the special relationships she forged with her clientele. She was well known as an astute businesswoman with a bubbly personality and an artist’s touch for detail.

In addition to having a gift for decorating and finding the best bargain, she loved to travel, especially to one of her favorite destinations, Paris.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Martha; as well as her younger brother, Robert. She is survived by her husband, Mirko; daughter Robin Scott of New York City; twin brother Edward Carpenter of New York City; and sister Anne (Fernando) Polidoro of Florida.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
