A vehicle crashed into a Water Mill farm stand late Wednesday afternoon, July 17, causing at least one injury and damaging the building.

The vehicle hit a melon cart at the Halsey Farm Store on Deerfield Road. According to an employee who answered the phone there but did not give his name, the farm stand manager was injured. He also said the fire marshal had deemed the building safe.

Southampton Town Police and Southampton Volunteer Ambulance responded to the accident.

Southampton Town Police Detective Lieutenant James Kiernan said that the driver of the vehicle accidentally hit the accelerator rather than the brakes and hit the store, causing minor injuries and property damage.

He added on Monday that the accident report was still pending, so there were no identifications of the people involved.

Terrible. I was just there yesterday. I hope the manager is not too seriously injured and recovers speedily. Please keep us informed. They are good people that work there.

What is with all of these accidents in Water Mill & Bridgehampton lately? It seems every other day there’s an accident. That’s INSANE.
