William R. Everett Jr., formerly of Westhampton Beach, died on November 9. He was 63.
Mr. Everett was born January 23, 1952, in Alaska. He attended Westhampton Beach High School. He was a skilled craftsperson and learned the carpentry trade from his former father-in-law, Paul H. Shene Sr., manager of the Sandpiper co-op apartments on Dune Road in Westhampton Beach. During his senior year of high school he was part of the work study program where he worked at the Sandpiper. In his later years of life he trained in a counselor education program at the University of California, Los Angeles, and performed his internship at Huntington Memorial Hospital. Survivors said he was a man of wanderlust, a masterful player of cards and darts, and a perfect day was one spent on the water fishing.
He is survived by two sons, William R. Everett III and wife Aubrey of Massachusetts, and Shad W. Everett and wife Samantha of North Carolina; and grandchildren, Julia R. and expected grandson Jordan. He is also survived by siblings, Mark Everett of South Dakota, Dorothy Shary of Florida, Faith Jayne of New York and Grace Mulholland of New York; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also survived by the mother of his children and former spouses, Virginia Shene Whitelaw of New York and Cynthia Baker Everett of North Carolina, as well as his former spouse Bertha Everett of California. He was predeceased by his parents, William Everett Sr. and Clarice Everett.
A private graveside service was held December 2 at Oaklawn Cemetery in North Carolina. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Gilmore Mortuary Service of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
