Science Requirements Changing For Westhampton Beach Students

The Westhampton Beach Board of Education took action last week to ensure that high school students receive an extra year of mandatory science education.

Starting next school year, incoming freshmen will be required to take four years of high school science, one year more than the state requirement.

High School Principal Chris Herr came before the board last Monday, February 6, to propose the extra year of required science curriculum, explaining that it will give his students the strongest foundation possible for college.

The board voted unanimously to approve the change, which mirrors a similar initiative that was introduced for math instruction three years ago.
