Firefighters doused a blaze in a home on Oak Street in Westhampton Beach on Thursday afternoon, November 15. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

The Westhampton Beach Fire Department responded to the fire at 1 p.m., and firefighters extinguished the blaze, which was contained to a rear bedroom of the residence, in 20 minutes, Fire Chief Billy Dalton said.

Firefighters were on scene for another hour afterward to do an overhaul, searching for hidden pockets of fire. A separate team searched the property and found no victims.

Village Police closed the road to traffic for about one and a half hours.

The Eastport Fire Department, East Moriches Fire Department and Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance also responded to the scene, while the Quogue Fire Department was on standby at the Westhampton Beach headquarters during the call.
