An 800-square-foot trailer in Amagansett, which was listed for $1.1 million back in February, is now being listed for $1.2 million.

Owned by longtime bayman Richard Lester, the property had actually experienced a handful of price cuts from when it was first listed in October at $1.6 million. This newest price tag is the result of ongoing and increasing interest.

“We raised the price to $1.2 million because there’s been a lot of traffic on it and a lot of interest in it,” said Chris Chapin of Douglas Elliman, one of the listing agents.

Sitting on a little over a third of an acre, and not far from Indian Wells beach, the 2-bedroom, 1-bath trailer is on a flag lot, set back off the road with a 100-foot driveway. It will likely be replaced with a new home of at least 3,500 square feet. “I believe somebody will put up a house … maybe a 4-bedroom, 5-bath house with a pool. When you put new construction like that south of the highway, it will be worth at least $5 million,” said Mr. Chapin.

Reportedly overwhelmed by an onslaught of attention and looking to minimize the impact of publicity on his family, Mr. Lester started telling members of the media that the trailer was no longer for sale. “We’ll leave it like it is,” he told The Press in February, indicating that he was getting tired of “people calling, all that stuff,” and adding, “We’re not selling, sorry.”

However, it appears that the trailer was never pulled from the market. Mr. Lester is an Amagansett native whose family has been in the town of East Hampton for 300 years.
