Real Estate Seminars For The Pros

author on Nov 19, 2015

Who could resist?

Two seminars for real estate professionals, builders and others will be held in Southampton in December—enticingly titled “The Ins and Outs of Pre-Purchase Inspections and Due Diligence in Real Estate Transactions,” and “Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Affordable Housing (But Were Afraid To Ask).”

They’re being offered, with a suggested donation of $15 for each class, by a nonprofit called Tutoring By Engineers, which promotes engineering and science as a career choice.

“The Ins and Outs” will explain what a pre-purchase inspection involves and how it can help brokers and sellers solve problems before marketing a property, so they can avoid surprises and delays at closing time. Builders will have a chance to learn specifically what inspectors look for during an inspection, too.

The class will also cover how to exercise due diligence before buying real estate, providing information about codes and standards, site data, public records, surveys, environmental review, zoning and the like.

Developers and others in the real estate industry may also be interested in the affordable housing seminar, which will present an overview of affordable housing programs and related concepts, definitions and acronyms. The seminar will also cover eligibility requirements for major housing programs and the process of developing affordable housing, including program administration, site selection and financing options.

The classes, for which participants can get three continuing education credits upon completion, will be taught by Marc A. Chiffert, the executive director of Tutoring By Engineers and a licensed engineer with other related qualifications. They will meet at the Hamptons Virtual Office Center at 53 Hill Street in Southampton Village, with the affordable housing class running from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on December 4, or from 4 to 7 p.m. on December 18, and the inspection seminar from 4 to 7 p.m. on December 4, or 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on December 18.

Mr. Chiffert can be reached by phone at (631) 353-3375 or by emailing maida@tutoringbyengineers.com.
