New Digs

Jason Weiner, Eric Lemonides and Antonio Rappazzo are at it again: Their third French-American bistro branch, Almond Tribeca, is growing an empire that began on the East End with Almond Bridgehampton in 2001—sans Mr. Rappazzo—and joined not long after by Almond NYC.

The restaurant’s Facebook page has teased at the opening, said to be sometime this week, with photos of its menu offerings, place settings and Scalamandre’s iconic prancing zebras wallpaper going up on the back wall.

Hootie Hoo!

This summer, celebrity chef and cookbook author Carla Hall will join the ranks of Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse, Wolfgang Puck and Martha Stewart—on paper, that is—as the 2015 Chefs & Champagne honoree.

The annual James Beard Foundation foodie event, to be hosted on July 25 at Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, will feature more than 40 chefs from the East End and beyond.

“When I set out for culinary school after years of running a small catering business, it was with the hopes of learning everything I could about cooking and the culinary arts,” Ms. Hall said in a statement. “In the end, I learned, as we all do, that education and discovery in the kitchen never stops. To be honored by the prestigious James Beard Foundation, which does so much to encourage the study of the culinary arts and the discovery of all that is magical about them, is an amazing experience because it both affirms past choices and inspires future decisions.”

Young And In Charge

Barely in his 30s, restaurateur Zach Erdem—who owns 75 Main in Southampton, as well as its Floridian sister location—was recently honored by the Long Island Business News with a “40 Under 40” Award, which recognizes members of the Long Island business community.
