South Fork Bakery’s Annual East End Bake-Off Returns!

South Fork Bakery will celebrate its 8th birthday on Sunday, May 5, with the 2nd Annual East End Bake-Off “Competition With a Cause — Birthday Cupcake Extravaganza.”

The return of the Bake-Off once again pits top East End bakers, restaurateurs and caterers against one another in a friendly quest to create the most delicious birthday cupcake ever sampled in these parts.

“This event is a great opportunity for our community to visit the bakery and learn more about the meaningful employment opportunities SFB provides for folks with disabilities on the East End,” explained Stephen Hamilton, SFB’s executive director. “And, I mean, who doesn’t love cupcakes?”

Last year’s grand prize winner, Loaves and Fishes, will be defending the title in this year’s “Competition With a Cause,” while Sen Restaurant, Dopo La Spiaggia, Jerri’s Cakery and Confections and others will be looking to unseat them and take their place in East End Bake-Off history.

Judges Andrea H. Schiavoni and Billy Baldwin return to officiate the competition and will be joined this year by Jason Belkin of Hampton’s Coffee to select the “Competition for a Cause” grand prize winner. Attendees — adults and kids alike — will vote for their favorite entry in the People’s Choice Award. There will also be live music, face painting and a photo booth to capture the fun.

South Fork Bakery is a not-for-profit organization that provides meaningful paid employment to disabled adults in its Bakery kitchen located in Amagansett. The organization’s mission extends to the training and placement of adults with disabilities with employer partners in businesses throughout Suffolk County via Launch, SFB’s Training and Employment Program.

The East End Bake-Off will take place on Sunday, May 5, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Scoville Hall, 17 Meeting House Lane in Amagansett. Tickets are $75, free for kids under 12 at southforkbakery.org or 631-725-7166.

Arthur & Sons New York Italian Opens in Bridgehampton

Joe Isidori, Michelin star chef, restaurateur, cookbook author and co-founder and co-creator of the restaurant franchise Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beers, will open Arthur & Sons in Bridgehampton this May. An homage in both menu and design to the chef’s experience growing up in New York’s restaurant industry, the restaurant will feature a rustic vibe, with a 1990s hip hop edge and a menu that transports guests back to the era with “old school” Italian American red sauce classics.

“The Hamptons has always been a second home for me. I spent many of my early years of my career working in the Hamptons. I have always had a true love and passion for all things out east, so it’s nice to bring a piece of my personal heritage to the community for all to experience,” said Chef Isidori.

Named in nostalgic tribute to his family’s three generations in the New York restaurant industry, and the new sister restaurant to the popular west village location, Isidori takes on the classic Italian American dishes he grew up preparing and eating, a mix of family recipes and new dishes which are elevated by using the highest quality ingredients.

Guests can expect to see “old school” New York Italian American classics and signature appetizers such as meatballs with ricotta, Caesar salad, fried calamari, baked clams oreganata and sausage and peppers with shaved provolone with prices ranging from $17 to $28. Entrees range from $29 to $45 with highlights including spicy rigatoni alla vodka, chicken Parmigiana, shrimp scampi, spaghetti carbonara and veal marsala. Additionally, house specialties will pay tribute to the real classics such as “Old School Sunday Gravy,” chicken alla vodka, eggplant Parmigiana and rigatoni alla norma “Al Forno.” Classic Italian desserts offer a perfect end to the meal with “Spumoni My Way.”

Created by Chef Isidori, the Arthur & Sons wine list features a crafted selection from producers such as Brunello di Montalcino and Sassicaia Tenuta San Guido as well as classic Italian wines including Sartori, Giovanni Rosso and Vermentino di Sardegna. Red, white, rosé and sparkling house wines are available by the glass and by the bottle. The cocktail menu showcases elevated twists on favorites such as the espresso martini, limoncello spritz and Johnny Lum’s Mai Tai. A selection of mocktails features Italian lemonade, pineapple tiki punch and a phony negroni.

The design keeps the “old school new school” vibe, while leaning into a more rustic tone to help reflect the true Hampton vibe featuring vintage tiffany lights, red candles and rat pack era artwork and photos. The restaurant will seat 70 with an additional 15 seats at the bar while an outdoor patio will seat 30 in warmer months.

Arthur & Sons is located at 203 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton, and will be open daily from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. The restaurant will be open year-round and reservations will be available via RESY. For more information, visit arthurandsonsnyc.com.
