Dr. Izhak Kehat Will Discuss The Concept Of Gene Modification To Prevent Heart Attacks

Can our genes be tweaked to skirt a heart attack? Dr. Izhak Kehat, a renowned senior cardiologist and professor at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, thinks it might be possible. On Monday, July 15, at 7 p.m.,Dr. Kehat will be at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons (JCOH) in East Hampton to talk about modifying genes and remodeling hearts to reduce fatal heart attacks — the leading cause of death worldwide. He will also share insights about medical achievements in Israel.

Dr. Kehat is the head of the Molecular Cardiovascular System Research Lab in the Technion’s Ruth and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine and a senior cardiologist in the Rambam Medical Center Department of Cardiology, Rambam Medical Center. He is also on the faculty of the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute at the Technion, working in the areas of nanobiotechnology and nanomedicine with a specialty on molecular genomics. A reception will follow his presentation.
