Anne Maria Ingolia of Water Mill died on January 27, 2019, of cancer. She had just celebrated her 81st birthday on January 12.

Born in London, and raised in Lewes, England, Ms. Ingolia relocated to America in the late 1950s. During her studies at Sarah Lawrence College, she met and married Larry Ingolia, from whom she was divorced and who predeceased her. Together they raised three children while living in Southampton, where she owned an upscale clothing boutique. She was a very active member of the community, frequently volunteering at Southampton Hospital and the Rogers Memorial Library.

Ms. Ingolia had a brilliant green thumb and a passion for flowers and gardening, loved reading books in myriad genres, had a soft spot for animals and always enjoyed the company of her beloved dogs. She had a deep penchant for antiques, was a travel enthusiast, and was an incredible cook.

Survivors said she had a marvelous, keen, and cunning British dry sense of humor, and was a brilliantly fierce woman who had a heart of gold, endless strength, and was adored by many. She was a kind and caring individual and always prioritized helping those around her.

She was retired from her career as a real estate broker at Alan M. Schneider & Associates, was an active and committed member of The Bridgehampton Association, and loved living at her home in Mecox.

She is survived by her children, Rebecca Gaynor and husband Christopher of Southampton; Elizabeth Ingolia Bourne and husband Tristan of Los Angeles; Lawrence Ingolia and wife Tapp Francke of Sag Harbor; two stepchildren, Richard Ingolia and Patti Harris; five grandchildren, Cameron Gaynor, Aidan Bourne, Ewan Bourne, George Ingolia and Samuel Ingolia; as well as two sisters, Margaret Marret of Lyon, France, and Mary Arthur of Sevenoaks, England.

A memorial service is being planned for June. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Connell-Rothwell Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice or The Bridgehampton Association.
