Ann Marie Moylan of Sag Harbor died on February 16, 2018, at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown. She was 53.
A lifelong resident of Sag Harbor, she was born August 9, 1964, the daughter of William Harry Moylan and Ruth War Moylan, both of whom predeceased her.
Graduating at the top of her class from Pierson High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the College of New Rochelle and a master’s degree in nursing administration from New York University. She worked as a registered nurse at New York Hospital, where she was nurse manager of the pulmonary unit, a medical surgical nurse manager at Southampton Hospital, as director of nursing for St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, and as a nursing consultant for Cerner Corporation. Most recently she was a senior management consultant for Allscripts. She was chair of the American Nurses Credentialing Center for the Medical Surgical Nursing Board.
In addition to her advanced degrees in nursing, she was board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in medical surgical nursing, and advanced nursing administration. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau-International Nursing Honor Society, the American Association of Nurse Executives, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, the American Nurses Association, and the American Nursing Informatics Association.
According to her niece, her strong Christian faith guided her throughout her life. Her dedication to her faith was shown in all that she did. She was a member of the St. Andrew’s Church, leading the folk group for many years as a young adult, sharing her time and talent with young children in the community, offering guitar lessons and spreading joy in the process. She continued on this path in college, leading a music ministry by playing her guitar and leading the congregation in song. It was this faith, her niece said, that allowed her to lead a life of compassion and conviction.
Ms. Moylan is survived by her sister, Theresa M. Samot of Sag Harbor; her nieces, Mary Samot, Kathleen Samot and Colleen Samot, all of Sag Harbor.
A funeral took place on February 18 at St. Andrew’s Church, followed by burial in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor.
