John W. Hillendahl Of Hampton Bays Dies October 28

John W. Hillendahl of Hampton Bays died on October 28 at Southampton Hospital. He was 63.

He was a carpenter and owner of Hillendahl Construction Company based in Hampton Bays.

Mr. Hillendahl is survived by his wife, Joyce A. Trafford of Hampton Bays; a son, Daniel Murphy and wife Lori of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren, Chelsea Reeser and Cameron Pyburn. He is also survived by two brothers, Arnold Hillendahl Jr. and wife Yvonne of Missouri and Donald Hillendahl and wife Velma of Texas; and two sisters, Darleen Walton and Janice Grubbs, both of Texas; his mother-in-law, Marlene Trafford of Hampton Bays; brothers-in-law, Lester Trafford of Hampton Bays, Rodney Trafford of Hampton Bays and Brian Trafford and wife Suzanne of Riverhead; a goddaughter, Madelynne Smith; and his “Polish daughter,” Karolina Jaworksa.

He was predeceased by his parents, Arnold and Mildred Hillendahl; a brother, Billy Hillendahl; and father-in-law, Lester Trafford.

Visiting hours were held at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on November 1 and 2. A funeral service was held on November 3 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church; Father Philip Hubbard, pastor of St. Mary’s, officiated. Cremation followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Center Moriches.
