Judy Davis of Southampton died on October 26 at Stony Brook University Medical Center. She was 60.
Born on December 20, 1954, in Harlem to Juanita and Robert Whitfield, both of whom predeceased her, she attended Jane Addams Vocational High School and graduated in 1972. Following graduation, she began her studies in nursing and upon completion found employment at St. Francis Hospital. Shortly after, she relocated to Southampton and was hired at Southampton Hospital, where she worked for approximately 40 years.
While on a summer visit with her family in Southampton, Ms. Davis met Frankie Davis. They married in June 1977. Survivors said Ms. Davis’s greatest joy was her children and that she took great pride in her family.
In 1985, she was baptized and became a member of the Community Baptist Church in Southampton. She was an active and dedicated member serving in the Willing Workers, the Missionary Board, the Nurses Unit and the Pastor’s Aid Committee.
Survivors said she was a strong, hard-working woman, who continued to work throughout her illness.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Whitfield Jr. and Ramsey Whitfield. She is survived by her husband, Frankie Davis; a son, Frankie Carl Jr.; a daughter, Crystal; a stepson, Andre; a daughter-in-law, Kara; a future son-in-law, Aaron; three sisters, Geniveve Mitchell, Barbara Smoot and Roberta Harris; four sisters-in-law, Myrtle Dennis, Doris Mitchner, Dorothy Davis and Donna Mack; four brothers-in-law, Charles Smoot, Avery Madison, Orlando Harris and Kevin Mack; four grandsons, Nakai, Kaiden, Kairi and Cyrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service took place on October 31 at the Community Baptist Church with the Reverend Donald E. Butler officiating. Interment followed at Southampton Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
