Catherine M. Tomossonie Of Hampton Bays Dies July 12

Catherine M. Tomossonie of Hampton Bays, formerly of Sag Harbor, died on July 12. She was 79.

Born on February 6, 1936, in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William and Anna (McDonald) Atkinson, both of whom predeceased her. She was a nursing assistant at Southampton Hospital for 17 years, and a member of a nurse’s union, SIEU 1199.

She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Tomossonie Sr. She is survived by three children, Thomas Tomossonie Jr. and Dennis Tomossonie, both of Hampton Bays and William Meeker of Utica; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; 25 nieces and nephews; and a sister, Joan Murphy of Florida. She was predeceased by her siblings, Jack Atkinson, Charles Atkinson, Donald Atkinson, Geraldine Kennerknecht and Marie Sheehan.

Visitation was at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor on Sunday, July 19. A funeral service took place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Sag Harbor on Monday.
