Barbara (Feuer) Keller of Leesburg, Virginia, formerly of Manhasset and Westhampton Beach, died on December 22 after a battle with lymphoma. She was 83.
Born in New York to the late Ruth and Dr. Samuel Feuer, she was a graduate of Adelphi Academy in Brooklyn, Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, and held a master’s degree from C.W. Post. She was a longtime administrator and community advocate in the Manhasset public schools and Herrick’s Community Center, and was the executive director of the Suffolk Coalition to Prevent Drug and Alcohol Abuse, based in Hauppauge.
Survivors said she was known for her unconditional love and keen insight, and she cherished gathering family and friends at her home, the scene of countless memorable occasions. She founded a non-profit, Cancer Can’t Get Me.
Ms. Keller was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Donal E. Keller, DDS, in December, 2013. She is survived by three children, Dr. Andrew Keller and wife Gillian, Jane Gordon and husband Lawrence, and Marjorie Powers and husband Alan; five grandchildren, Emma Keller, Benjamin Keller, Hailey Gordon, Bradley Gordon, and Matthew Powers; a nephew, Michael Glaubman; a niece, SueEllen Ebertz; and many friends.
Funeral services were private and under the direction of the Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Virginia.
