Doris N. Sheppard, known as “Dee,” of Riverhead died on January 1. She was 76.
Ms. Sheppard was a graduate of Westhampton Beach High School and was formerly employed at Westhampton Care Center. She was very involved in Alcoholics Anonymous for 37 years, helping many people with her warm and caring ways, survivors said. She was an avid diver at the Swordfish Club and a member of Beach United Methodist Church for many years. She lived in Florida for more than 20 years, and she loved riding her bicycle to the beach.
Ms. Sheppard is survived by three children, Richard Yeomans of California, Shari Yeomans of Riverhead, and Jane Fraser Schneider of Flanders; and a brother, Wilson R. Nichols Jr. of Westhampton Beach.
A funeral service will be held at Beach United Methodist Church in Westhampton Beach on Saturday, January 10, at 1 p.m., followed by burial at Westhampton Cemetery next to her parents, Wilson R. Nichols and Pauline C. Nichols.
