Alfred Barone of Missoula, Montana, formerly of Remsenburg, died on November 1 at his home, surrounded by family and friends. He was 75.
Mr. Barone was born on October 4, 1939, in the Bronx, the son of the late Alfonse and Frances Barone. A longtime resident of Remsenburg, where he and his wife raised their family, Mr. Barone was the chief executive officer and founder of Strathmore Organization, one of Long Island’s largest privately held companies.
Survivors said Mr. Barone had a love for life and an infectious passion for hunting and fishing, which took him traveling to various places across the globe. He was a world record holder in the Super Grand Slam of Wild Sheep and Mountain Goat. He was a supporter of many conservation associations and given the honor of 1988 Man of the Year for all his hard work and fundraising support to Cooley’s Anemia Foundation.
Mr. Barone was predeceased by his wife, Linda Barone. He is survived by three daughters, Allyson Scerri, Andrea Johnston and Aimee White; seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Jessica, Allyn, Linda, Brandon, Alexa and Amanda; and two sisters, Adele and Pamela.
A service was held in Missoula on November 4 and a New York service will be held Monday, November 17, at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church on Quiogue.
