William Lesta Of Southampton Dies September 12

William Lesta of Southampton died on September 12 at Southampton Hospital. He was 52.

Mr. Lesta, known as “Willy,” was born on September 27, 1961, at Southampton Hospital to Stanley and Anna Mae (Nelson) Lesta.

Survivors said he was a man of many talents and that what he enjoyed most was helping others, no matter what the job entailed. He was a lifelong resident of the East End and enjoyed all it has to offer. His leisure time was spent on his boat, fishing, clamming, and visiting with friends and family.

He is survived by his parents, Stanley Paul Lesta and Anna Mae Lesta of Southampton; a brother, Paul Lesta and wife Laurie of Cobleskill; and sister, Julie Ritter and husband Mike of Maine; and nieces and nephews, Danielle, Zachary and Nicholas Lesta and Wesley, Kristina, Michael and Shannon Ritter.

A wake was held at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton on September 17. A funeral Mass was celebrated on September 18 at the Basilica Parish of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary; Rev. Msgr. William Gill officiated. Interment followed at Sacred Hearts Cemetery.
