Hampton Bays High School science research students are helping to restore the water quality of local bays by seeding the waters with adult clams, as part of the Shinnecock Bay Restoration Program, with help from Stony Brook University.

Westhampton Beach High School students participated in several Red Ribbon Week activities, organized by the school’s Youth to Youth Club, during the week of November 4. All activities were based on the themes of saying no to drugs, making positive choices and team building. As part of the efffort, all students signed a banner pledging to stay drug- and alcohol- free.

Westhampton Beach High School students Val Finke, Marley Slotkin, Jack Romano, Jenny Martinez, Danielle Freda, Abby Kilroy, Maddie Donahue, Paige Mignone and Jake Ongania toured the Stony Brook Southampton Marine Station as part of a science research cruise. During the cruise, they reseeding a clam bed in Weesuck Creek.
Last week the students--and some parents--participated in our annual "Spooky Fun Glow Run." Students came in their costumes, glow gear and enjoyed different stations such as glow gaga, running the track and other activities.

Mother’s Day is next week, and I’m thrilled. The hockey pucks don’t live with us right now, so I’ll be getting what most moms want on Mother’s Day: peace and quiet. I’m lucky. Many of my friends’ adult children’s apartment leases have ended, and they’ve moved back home to save a little money until they find a new place. Stony Brook To Be Satellite Location for Heart of the Hamptons Food Pantry Distribution

Stony Brook Southampton will serve as a satellite pick-up location for Heart of the Hamptons food pantry every Friday from 10 a.m. to noon in the university’s parking near the Fine Arts building. Wildlife Rescue Center To Hold Plant Sale Fundraiser

The nonprofit Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center, located in Munn’s Pond County Park in Hampton Bays, will hold its annual Mother’s Day plant sale fundraiser from Friday through Saturday, May 10 to 12. Choral Society Announces Auditions

The Choral Society of the Hamptons will hold auditions in May for all singing parts — soprano, alto, tenor, bass — for singers interested in joining the group prior to the Choral Society’s next concert on Saturday, June 29, at the Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church.
