Roberta “Bobbie” J. Hill-Cloud Knapke died February 5, 2020. She was 102.

Mrs. Knapke was born on January 5, 1918, in Norwood, Ohio, and shared her many blessings with family and friends across Indiana, followed by Naples, Florida; Taunton, Massachusetts; and, finally, Westhampton.

She attended Hanover College, joining Alpha Delta Pi sorority and playing field hockey, soccer, basketball, volleyball and track, as well as loving modern dance. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English and physical education in 1939, met her husband Daily Francis Hill and they married in 1944. She returned to teach at Hanover, followed by teaching high school and elementary levels throughout Indiana.

In 1996, she was inducted into the Hanover College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Her husband died in 1980, after 36 years of marriage. She married artist Carey Cloud in 1984, and he died soon after. She married Robert Knapke in 1990 and enjoyed 10 years of marriage to him until 2000, survivors said.

She is survived by her son, Daily Stephen Hill and wife Maryann; granddaughters, Justine Hill and husband Rob Dimin, and Alexandra Hill, all of New York City and Westhampton Beach. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces and their wonderful spouses throughout the country.

Survivors said that despite seeing so many family and dear friends dying before her, she continued to have faith in God and love for the moon, birds and beauty of nature. She loved to write letters, speak with friends near and far, be beautifully dressed for any occasion and always have a positive word for everyone.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Werner-Rothwell Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach.

I am writing this letter on behalf of Southampton Board of Education candidate Ruth White-Dunne. Ms. White-Dunne is one of the most highly regarded teachers on the East End of Long Island. She can bring invaluable experience and knowledge to the Southampton School Board as a veteran teacher and leader, as well as a parent and a longtime resident who is deeply invested in our community. Her philosophy of thinking creatively as a no-drama problem-solver while treating all with respect and care will add much to the district board. She is dedicated to service and is a kind person. Talk Is Cheap

Last week was the final Express Sessions event of the season; a dozen live events brought together panelists and community members to discuss a variety of topics of importance to the community. As the break for a busy summer arrives, the question arises: Does it make a difference? The topic for the event last week in Sag Harbor focused on that village’s readiness for climate change and the perils it will bring — but, like other topics from throughout the fall, winter and spring, it was relevant for other villages and hamlets on the South Fork. Sean Hattrick Runs Unopposed in Tuckahoe

In the Tuckahoe Common School District, voters will be asked to approve a proposed $25,048,825 budget, which seeks to grow the tax levy by 4.41 percent, or $852,919, to $20,188,405. For a home assessed at $1 million, this will mean a $200 increase to the tax bill. Residents will also be asked to consider three propositions — one that levies $65,000 for the district’s participation in the Southampton Youth Association, and another that levies $10,500 for participation in the Parrish Art Museum. The final proposition asks voters to approve spending up to $1.34 million from two funds for districtwide projects, ... by Michelle Trauring
