Update: Per Morgan Vaughan of Round Table Theatre Company, the final performance of the cabaret class "Sing us a Story" scheduled for March 16 at Bay Street Theater has been postponed due to coronavirus concerns and will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

"My decision was ultimately swayed by our commitment to the community at large," stated Vaughan. "We must do all we can to curb the rapidity of the spread of this virus."

“Sing us a Story,” a workshop on cabaret performance taught by Morgan Vaughan of Round Table Theatre Company, will present its final-night showcase on Monday, March 16, at 6 p.m. at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor.

This showcase is the culmination of an 8-week class that covered all aspects of cabaret — song choice, storytelling, connection with story and audience, and of course, voice training. Songs in the showcase include pieces by Stephen Sondheim, George and Ira Gershwin, Joni Mitchell, David Bowie and from favorite musicals. The final presentation is an hour long, free and open to the public. Children 14 and older, especially those interested in a career in the performing arts, are encouraged to attend as well.

The workshop participants include Hugh Brown, Christine Carroll, Julia Crowley, Kelly Crowley, Julie Marcley, Terri-Marie Michaels, and Hilary Woodward. Voice teacher and pianist Amanda Borsack Jones accompanies.

A professional actress, singer, and director for more than 20 years in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, Vaughan honed her skills at roughly 60 venues across the country as Patsy Cline in “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline” and “Always, Patsy Cline.” She also wrote and produced her own cabaret show “This Cowgirl’s Got the Blues” in Chicago, and was one of the 5-member cast in the critically acclaimed “Side by Side by Sondheim” at The Attic Theatre in Los Angeles.

She and her husband, Tristan Vaughan, founded Round Table Theatre Company in East Hampton, where they produced “Macbeth” at LTV and “Hamlet” at Guild Hall.

Accompanist Amanda Jones grew up in East Hampton. She holds a degree in music education and taught choral music in the East Hampton School District. She has accompanied and musically directed for a wide variety of East End programs including Stages: A Children’s Theatre Workshop Inc. and Southampton Cultural Center’s Center Stage productions. She also is a founder The South Fork Performing Arts Inc., whose mission it is to bring quality educational programming in the performing arts to students on the East End.
