Frances O. Burgess of Remsenburg died on Monday, March 23, at her home. She was 93.

She was the wife of Charles W. Burgess Jr., who predeceased her in April 2012.

Ms. Burgess was born in Hillside, New Jersey, on February 24, 1927, to Stefan and Fanny Orban. She resided in and was a school nurse in Livingston, New Jersey, before retiring to Remsenburg.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and David Philson of Belvidere, New Jersey; grandsons Kyle Philson of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, and Keith Philson and his wife Regina of Fairfield, Connecticut; her great-granddaughter Ayla Philson; daughter-in-law Lynn Howard Burgess, the wife of the late Charles W. Burgess III of Eastport; step granddaughter Jessica Vlaun Koehler and husband Matthew of Islip Terrace; two step great-grandchildren, Hunter and MaKenna Koehler; and step grandson Kevin Vlaun and wife Crysta of Palm Coast, Florida.

Graveside services were held on March 26 at 11 a.m. at the Remsenburg Community Church cemetery for the immediate family, and officiated by the Reverend Robert Griffin.

A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at a later date.
