With regards to coronavirus, at Ponquogue Beach, one “exit” sign from the parking lot to the ocean beach has been missing for over two weeks. It should be on the path at the west end of the parking lot. Many people are walking the wrong way, and they are not wearing masks.

In fact, all of the signs should be changed to read “one-way only, by order of Southampton Town Police,” and they should be enforced. On a recent Saturday, police shut down the parking lot to limit the number of beach-goers, but they never checked the paths or masks.

The town is not taking the virus seriously by the fact that the sign has been missing for two weeks and that wearing a mask is not being enforced. Everyone must put some effort into battling coronavirus or it will never go away. People who won’t wear masks in public should be made to stay home. No exceptions.
