Stephanie Cook Delaporte Of Quogue Dies July 28

Stephanie Cook Delaporte of Quogue died on 28. She was 79.

Ms. Delaporte was born the only child of George Cook III and Betty Falconer Cook on November 9, 1940 in Mineola. She was raised in Garden City, attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Wheaton College.

According to her family, Ms. Delaporte was truly devoted to family and community. A master gardener, she was a dedicated member of the Westhampton Garden Club, where she oversaw the herb garden at the Quogue Library and designed and implemented the children’s Harry Potter garden.

Among her other activities, Ms. Delaporte chaired the Quogue Historical Society annual art show and was a devoted parishioner at St. Mark’s Church. She enjoyed travel and spent recent winters in Fairhope, Alabama. She was a gourmet chef, avid reader, expert needlewoman, a fierce bridge player, animal lover and a good friend to many, her family said.

She is survived by her sons D. Andre Delaporte and Christopher Falconer Delaporte; and five grandchildren, Annalee, Elizabeth, Will, Owen and Nelson. She was married for 37 years to her loving husband Donald Andre Delaporte, who predeceased her in 2000. She was also predeceased by her son George Cook Delaporte.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ms. Delaporte’s memory may be made to the Quogue WIldlife Refuge.
