Zeldin And MTG

As the old saying goes: “Ignorance is bliss.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene, or “MTG,” says American dollars should not go to foreign countries like Guam. Actually, Guam has been a part of the United States for more than a century.

Much has been made of illegal immigration and the lack of bona-fides of the people crossing our borders in search of a better life. Every person who applies has to pass a test in order to be granted U.S. citizenship. In that regard, I suggest that all new members of Congress should be required to pass a test attesting to their knowledge of our country, prior to being sworn in.

While we all know that MTG is a QAnon conspiracy theorist; it is also important to note that she lacks a basic understanding of our country. Apparently, she is too lazy or just not interested in learning important, basic facts about our country. If you want to hold an important public position, you should, at a bare minimum, take the time to learn the basics.

Apart from her most recent Guam gaffe, MTG is simply unqualified to hold her office in the House of Representatives. She lacks the knowledge, the integrity, the decency and the temperament to serve in the House. Even many of her Republican colleagues in the House are getting upset with her time-wasting procedural antics.

Yet, our local congressman, Lee Zeldin, supported MTG as a member of the Education Committee — in spite of her cruel harassment of school shooting massacre survivors.

Also, Mr. Zeldin and the QAnon woman (MTG) have recently voted in lockstep. They both voted against the certification of Joe Biden’s electoral votes — after the storming of the Capitol on January 6. And they both voted against Biden’s American Rescue Plan, which provides for the $1,400 stimulus checks, the ramped-up vaccine production and distribution, unemployment insurance, funds to reopen schools, assistance to small businesses, rental assistance, child tax credits, and so much more.

Some Republican congressmen are taking credit for the benefits that their constituents are receiving from Biden’s American Rescue Plan even though they voted against it. Now, that takes real chutzpah!
