The Southampton Fire Department has really dropped the ball in procuring COVID-19 vaccine for its members. Everyone has to fend for themselves, and often with little success. Many do not have the time to be on the computer day and night to try to make an appointment, and now one has to be 60 or 65 to get one. Firefighters are not eligible on most sites.
The commissioner, trustee, mayor and chiefs should have played an instrumental role in providing access to the fire department members. Neighboring departments did a much better job in caring for these essential workers.
