Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, co-founders and designers of Proenza Schouler, chose the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill to film the presentation of their Fall/Winter 2021 Ready-to-Wear collection for New York Fashion Week. In February 2021, they brought their collection and nine models to the museum, where poured concrete walkways that extend along the north and south sides of the Herzog & de Meuron building provided a natural runway. The two-day shoot also marked the modeling debut of Ella Emhoff.

On Tuesday, April 20, from 5 to 6 p.m., the Parrish will present a live-stream talk with both McCollough and Hernandez and museum director Kelly Taxter. The designers will discuss the intersection of art, fashion, architecture, and nature. The conversation will kick off with clips from the video followed by discussion and audience Q&A. The event is free, and viewers must register in advance at parrishart.org.

“Jack and Lazaro have a vast knowledge of art and artists, and their collections have always revealed their deep interest and embrace of visual art,” said Taxter. “The swiftness and surfaces of fashion and clothing allow designers to respond to the issues of the moment; what we wear tells a story about who we are at a particular time. I have always looked at fashion as yet another lens for understanding culture as it unfolds.”

In 2002, McCollough and Hernandez founded Proenza Schouler, a New York-based womenswear and accessories brand defined by its fusion of craftsmanship and refined ease. The designers combine inspiration from youth culture and contemporary art with an emphasis on tailoring and the use of custom developed fabrics.

The Parrish Art Museum is at 279 Montauk Highway in Water Mill.
