Enough Is Enough

Carlos Sandoval writes a column on bystanders and racial reckoning, and his political bias and, frankly, cowardice is plain to see [“The Spring Of Bystanders And Racial Reckoning,” Vistas, April 15].

His first comment regarding a young Asian man being threatened by a “white man” is interesting, in that he mentions the color of the attacker. He does nothing to stop the obnoxious attack by the white man. That is cowardly.

He mentions a second attack on an Asian woman and, interestingly enough, neglects to mention the color of the assailant. A Black man is the attacker — and, unfortunately, this has occurred too often.

Mr. Sandoval is a coward for not mentioning the second attack correctly, since I am certain that he does not want to offend the Black community. Shame on him.

I am married to a Chinese woman, and I have children who are half Chinese. My mother-in-law is Chinese. My wife and mother-in-law have all been assaulted in New York City, and it’s always the same group of people who are attacking my wife and mother-in-law. They are Black.

If we as a country really want to deal with the racial unrest then let’s be honest and candid about what is happening.

It time to stop being a coward and step forward and stop this hate. It begins with each one of else actively saying enough and stepping in.

I, for one, would never stand by and watch someone being abused. The time is now to say stop. Cowardice has no place.

Bystanders are cowards to me. Enough is enough.
