In the June 22 Democratic primary, voters can cast a vote for good court management, fairness and sound jurisprudence in Southampton Town by supporting Adam Grossman and Shari Oster.
For the past 18 years, Adam Grossman has demonstrated his impartiality and commitment to public service by serving on the Southampton Town Zoning Board of Appeals. His fact-based approach, irrespective of appellants position in the community, has dovetailed with Southampton Town’s commitment to orderly neighborhood change.
His appointment to the ZBA was a logical fit, as he spent many years practicing law in the fields of real estate, civil litigation and land use. Mr. Grossman’s work as special prosecutor for code enforcement in Riverhead provides additional experience that will serve our growing community well.
Shari Oster’s candidacy brings a commitment to honesty and integrity, and a legal career that suggests a welcome perspective that can richly inform the Southampton Town Justice Court. Ms. Oster’s background as an attorney for the Mental Hygiene Legal Service of the Appellate Division of the State of New York and her knowledge of the working of mental health courts and their mission to link mental health services to individuals and families in need via various grant programs opens the door to court innovation along the lines of the East End Regional Intervention Court, better known as “drug court.”
Ms. Oster’s election can add a component that seeks remedies that heal and rehabilitate, too. Combining that experience with her work in guardianship cases can bring new insights and abilities to the Southampton Justice Court.
