Three Promises

I am applying for the job of Southampton Town councilwoman. You, the voters, will review my background and accomplishments and decide on November 2 whether I get the job.

I’m a small-business owner of a Southampton real estate law firm. Living with the challenges and demands of our economy and working all over Southampton Town has given me valuable insights into the commonalities and differences among all our hamlets and villages, not just one or two communities.

As a public servant, I led the way in ethics as chair of the Suffolk County Board of Ethics. I also served on the Southampton Housing Authority and have been a member of the Southampton Town Planning Board for the last five years, weighing the delicate balance between development and environment, economy and community. This is crucial to me, as I believe that in Southampton our special environment is the driver of our economy.

The Long Island Federation of Labor and the Communication Workers of America Local 1099 have endorsed me for this job, and so have Assemblyman Fred Thiele, County Legislator Bridget Fleming, Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman, Congressman Tim Bishop, Councilman John Bouvier, Eleanor’s Legacy, and numerous others.

I live in Hampton Bays with two rescue pups and a very opinionated cat. My two children have blessed me with two beautiful grandsons. Life is good.

If you make me your councilwoman, I make three promises to you: first, always to be honest and speak truth to power; second, always to do what’s right for you even if it’s wrong for me; and third, as I swore on joining the Ethics Board and Planning Board, to uphold our Constitution and laws and to represent all the people of Southampton to the best of my ability.

I know Southampton Town inside and out, and I know government inside and out. If you pick me for the job of town councilwoman on November 2, I’ll work hard and work smart for you.
