It’s Holiday Time

On behalf of the Southampton Christmas Decorations Committee, I am thrilled to report that the annual Parade of Lights will take place on Saturday, November 27, beginning at dusk in Southampton Village, followed by the tree-lighting ceremony in Agawam Park, with carols by Southampton High School’s vocal ensembles VOSH and MOSH, and ending with a spectacular fireworks display.

This year, we would like to thank Ann and Bill Yawney for their decades of leadership and dedication as president and vice president of the Christmas Decorations Committee; they have been the driving force behind this time-honored event that has traditionally kicked off the holiday season in the village.

The Decorations Committee is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and relies solely on donations from the community to help fund the purchase of the Christmas trees and wreaths that light up the village business district and to underwrite the costs of the tree lighting celebration, including the purchase of a new Christmas tree in Agawam Park, and co-sponsors the Holiday Window Decorating Contest.

For information about the tree lighting event or how you can support the efforts of the committee, please email christmasdecorationscommittee@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, November 27, at the Parade of Lights and tree lighting, and wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous season.

Andrew Pilaro
