We are writing on behalf of the staff and docents of the Parrish Art Museum in tribute to Joanne Pateman.
Joanne was a deeply caring, supportive friend of the museum for the past 15 years. As a docent and volunteer since 2012, she gave hundreds of tours and contributed to the Parrish’s work to make art accessible to all who were interested, both adults and children alike. Joanne’s infectious enthusiasm and her generosity of time and effort made her vital to this educational mission.
Joanne also served on the Docent Advisory Committee, co-organized many joyful holiday celebrations and mentored several new docents. She was passionate about art and enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm with visitors.
Art was just one of Joanne’s many, wide-ranging interests. Her joy for life, assertiveness and vitality made her a delight to be around. Joanne was a special person who will be deeply missed by her fellow docents and by the entire Parrish community.
