We are blessed to live in a beautiful corner of the world. It is our duty to nourish our fragile ecosystem with respect and to do everything in our power to sustain this special place.
Southampton Village has adopted a Declaration of Climate Emergency and has pledged to make climate mitigation a primary objective.
A first, easy step in our stewardship is to ban the use of gas-powered leaf blowers. They are dangerous, loud, toxin-spewing instruments of public menace.
It would be appropriate and beneficial for everyone if landscape companies would take the lead in preserving our environment. Alternatives to two-stroke motors and sterile lawns are happily available.
