I doubt Donald Trump has much of an inner life, other than a childish tallying of who’s got more toys, but even he could sense something special in John Lewis — a man whose moral compass pointed unwaveringly to truth, fairness, equality and compassion; a man who stood up for the rights of marginalized people; a man who risked his life time and again for what he believed in.
Last December, speaking in support of impeaching Trump, Lewis reminded us all that when “you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something, to do something.”
How many times in the past three and a half years have you been appalled by this president? How many times have you said or done anything about it?
In November, we can all pay tribute to John Lewis by casting a vote against the rancorous presidency of Donald Trump and his congressional Republican enablers.

Southampton Town Aquatics & Recreation (STAR) Corporation wishes to thank the Southampton Town Board, the Water Mill and North Sea community advisory committees, and the many members of the Tuckahoe and Shinnecock community who have taken the time to talk with us about the STAR AquaCenter. We are in the early steps of a multi-step process to reinvigorate our dream and make it a reality.
No one denies the need in our town for a place to teach our children to swim. No one denies that there is little for children and adults to do in winter on the East End. No one denies that there has ever been a greater need for our community to come together!
Now is the time to plan for this essential indoor aquatic facility that will meet the needs of our coastal community.
We pledge to actively engage with all stakeholders and community members to share ideas and address concerns. This long overdue facility cannot be achieved without us all working together. Anyone wishing to get involved, please go to our website: starquacenter.org.
