The Westhampton Garden Club’s House & Garden Tour returns on Friday, July 8, after four years off.

The 2022 tour will include seven stops spread throughout Quogue, Remsenburg and Westhampton Beach.

“It is primarily focused on the gardens this year,” Westhampton Garden Club President Melissa Morgan Nelson said last week. “These are some really tremendous gardens that we have.”

Nelson noted that the addresses of the home will not be revealed until tickets are issued, in keeping with the club’s longstanding practice.

“We don’t even tell our own members,” Nelson said.

The club was founded in 1928 and newspaper archives show the House & Garden Tour dates back to 1950, if not earlier. The event is typically held biennially but the 2020 tour was canceled due to the pandemic.

“Obviously we have not been able to have it since 2018,” Nelson said. “We won’t even talk about why. We all know why.”

Normally, the tour would include a look inside all of the houses, but because of ongoing health and safety concerns, entry will be restricted at most of the stops this time around.

At whichever garden tourgoers choose to stop at first, they will be given a tour journal with descriptions of each venue and tips on things to look out for.

“We have docents at every one of the venues,” Nelson said. “When you arrive at whichever venue you pick first … there will be someone to check you in.”

One stop will offer refreshments for all tourgoers, who also have an option to purchase admission to a luncheon at Westhampton Country Club, where boutiques will be set up to shop for jewelry and other wearable items as well as small paintings, cards and gifts.

Tickets may be preordered at Lynne’s Cards & Gifts in Westhampton Beach Village and at Quogue Liquor Store and Quogue Shop in Quogue Village. Tickets will be mailed out starting Friday, June 24, or can be held for pickup on the day of the tour at Quogue Library.

Tickets will be sold until the day of the tour on the club website, and there will be in-person sales in Westhampton Beach on Saturday, June 25, between the post office and farmers market and on Saturday, July 2, in front of the Quogue Post Office.

Proceeds will support a number of The Westhampton Garden Club activities. The club maintains public gardens and leads conservation and educational initiatives in addition to providing topiary arrangements and outdoor potted plants for East End Hospice patients, and an annual scholarship for a local high school senior.

Tickets start at $85 for the tour only and $135 for the tour and lunch. Tickets may be purchased at westhamptongardenclub.org.
