Restaurant Week Returns

The tri-annual and award-winning Long Island Restaurant Week is back and will take place from Sunday, November 6, to Sunday, November 13, and there are a number of prix fixe options available. Participating restaurants may offer a $22 two course lunch; a $27 three-course dinner menu, a $37 three-course dinner menu or a $44 three-course dinner prix fixe and restaurants may offer one, two or all of these options throughout the promotion. Each participant is required to offer three options per course (appetizer, entrée, and dessert) for dinner. The promotion runs Sunday to Sunday (except Saturday night when it only has to be offered until 7 p.m.). Many restaurants will be offering the promotion for takeout as well as for indoor and outdoor dining.

Long Island Restaurant Week is designed to garner positive publicity and additional business for the region’s restaurants. Since 2006, it has been an annual fall promotion until the first spring Long Island Restaurant Week was launched in April 2011 and then winter was added in January of 2016, due to popular customer and restaurateur demand.

“As we finally move into more normal times post-COVID people are becoming more comfortable dining out and looking for an excuse to go out,” said Nicole Castillo of Long Island Restaurant and Hospitality Group. “Restaurant Week is a great opportunity to get out and try new restaurants that you may have never been to.”

“Restaurant Weeks throughout the country have been successful for many years and Long Island is no different. The promotional week-long event has gained popularity year after year attracting new restaurants participating as well as bringing out more diners each promotion,” Castillo continued. “The now tri-annual event creates a buzz around traditionally slower periods of the year; in the winter post-holidays, in the spring between warm weather getaways and summer barbecues, and in the fall between post-summer spending and preholiday saving.”

In 2020, the promotion was expanded with the goal of supporting restaurants in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis and offering more options to diners with varying budgets. These changes included price adjustments, now offering a lunch option and three price points for the dinner prix fixe.
