Springs School Universal prekindergarten students celebrate the donation of $500 in books for each of the district’s three classes, courtesy of an anonymous donor couple, who annually ask the district how they can help the school. According to Superintendent Deb Winter, she gave the donors a tour of the new UPK program, which increased from five to three hours of instruction daily with the help of a competitive grant. After visiting the program, the donor offered each classroom $500 in books, with teachers offering a list of desired titles. The donor then added an additional $500 to help the district feed children in need. According to Winter, over the last five years, the district has benefited from $10,000 in donations from this generous couple alone. The Greater East Hampton Foundation also offered a donation to the PTA for books for each student attending Springs School.
