A 2-acre traditional estate in Southampton Village that offers 10,000 square feet of living space sold in the fall for $15.43 million, according to The Real Estate Report Inc.

Down a long gated driveway, the eight-bedroom home was designed by Markham Roberts, a New York City-based interior designer, and has been featured in the magazine House Beautiful.

The residence has a number of stately features and details, including a columned front porch, a double-height foyer, coffered ceilings and luxury finishes. There are fireplaces in the paneled wood library with custom built cabinetry, the formal dining room and the living room.

French doors open to a south-facing wraparound porch with multiple areas for seating and dining, the listing notes. The gourmet kitchen has top-of-the-line appliances, a bright breakfast area and a butler’s pantry with marble counters and wine cooler.

Six en suite bedrooms are found on the second floor, including a master suite with a sitting room and window seat, a fireplace, closets, a marble bath, and French doors to a private balcony overlooking the rear grounds. The other suites also have marble baths, and some also have balconies. Rounding out the second floor is a large reading room. Another staircase leads to storage and access to a widow’s walk.

The lower level is finished with a large playroom, a billiard room, a theater and a gym.

The pool stands apart from the main house and is complemented by a pool house with a full bathroom, a wet bar, seating areas and indoor and outdoor showers.

Also among the estate’s amenities are a bocce court, stone patios and an allee of ornamental trees.

According to town property records, Margaret and Mark DiStefano purchased the parcel in 2000 and had the residence built. Mark DiStefano, who died in 2016, was the chairman of data center builder Nova Mission Critical and an icon in the data center industry.

The estate, which was built by Telemark in 2002, went up for sale for the first time ever in 2019 with a price tag of $20 million, but there were no takers. It since switched brokerages, went off and on the market and saw a couple of price cuts. The last asking price was $16 million. Susan Brietenbach of Corcoran had the listing when it sold.

The deal closed September 29, 2022, The Real Estate Report Inc. reported. The seller was Foster Cross LLC and the new owner is Robert Fender.

“The property is very special, beautifully landscaped and set way back off the road on a flag lot on the south side of Foster Crossing, with gated entrance, totally private and very close to the ocean with incredible potential,” Breitenbach said. “The covered porches along the entire south side of the house and the separate pool house make it incredible for integrated interior and exterior living and entertaining.”
