The historic Redcraft estate in Southampton Village, restored by interior designer Steven Gambrel, recently changed hands for $20 million.

Dating back to the late 20th century, the 3.5-acre estate at 420 Ox Pasture Road was originally called Red Croft. It was built for England-born industrialist Charles Francklyn, heir to the Cunard shipping fortune, according to the listing.

A circular driveway brings visitors to the main entry of the red brick residence. Double doors open to a light-filled foyer and a reception hall with a fireplace. A center hall accesses an oversized dining room — also with a fireplace — a screened-in porch overlooking a formal garden, and a high-ceilinged family room.

A wet bar and chef’s kitchen are outfitted with top-of-the-line fixtures and appliances.

The listing says all of the first-floor rooms have French doors that open to a covered porch and terraces that run the length of the home. Upstairs, the primary suite has a formal dressing room, a bathroom with a fireplace and a private sunset-facing terrace overlooking a formal garden.

The park-like landscaping with mature horse chestnut trees, copper beech trees and hollies was designed by award-winning landscape architect Perry Guillot, who worked on the White House Rose Garden. An allée of large trees leads to a secluded pool and pool house

Between original brick walls, the nearly 1-acre formal garden with several garden “rooms” is modeled after Sissinghurst Castle Garden.

Redcraft was listed for $22 million with Susan Breitenbach of Corcoran.

The deal closed on November 17, 2022, according to The Real Estate Report Inc. The seller was Michael Raynes, and the new owner’s identity is shielded by a limited liability company.

According to town property records, the estate last sold in 2008 for $9 million.
