For Bonac Girls Track

Meredith Spolarich, Melina Sarlo, Leslie Samuel and Ryleigh O’Donnell took down a 10-year school record on Saturday at the Zeitler Relays at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood. Competing in the sprint medley relay, which is 400, 200, 200 and 800 meters run consecutively, the quartet finished in 4:31.09, which placed them first and topped the 2012 record of 4:35.3 set by Ashley West, Maggie Pizzo, Katla Thorsen and Dana Cebulski. Then on Sunday, at the Stanner Games at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York City, the same group reset its previous school record in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing in 4:13.74 which placed them fourth overall. Their previous record was 4:24.34.

East Hampton Boys Swimming
Loses at West Islip

The East Hampton/Pierson boys swim team lost, 55-44, at defending League II Champion West Islip on January 10. As head coach Craig Brierley pointed out, the Bonackers had some big wins, such as Tenzin Tamang and Liam Knight taking first and second, respectively, in the 200-yard individual medley and the 200-yard freestyle relay teams taking first and third place. But West Islip scored seven diving points to give them the needed edge. The Bonackers are 2-3 in League II, 4-4 overall. Bonac captains chose East Hampton’s Jack O’Sullivan as its Swimmer of the Meet for his consistency and hard work, evident in the fact that he had a best time in the 50-yard freestyle, was part of the winning 200 free relay and led off the 400 free relay that placed second.
