A new application period is open for affordable housing in Riverside, where the Town of Southampton Housing Authority has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Long Island to construct multiple single-family homes.

Applicants have until February 28 to submit their paperwork, and those who have applied in the past must submit again to be considered in this round.

To date in Riverside, the partners have built two homes, which have already been assigned to local families. Four more parcels are available, two of which are under construction, set to be completed this summer, and two that are awaiting permit and expected to be done this fall. The housing authority also expects to obtain additional parcels in the near future.

Each home will have three bedrooms and two full bathrooms and be accessible for people with disabilities.

Preferred applicants have lived or worked in Suffolk County or Nassau County for the last 12 months and are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents.

Applicants’ income should fall within the eligibility guidelines. For a couple, the minimum gross annual income is $58,150, and the maximum is $77,050. For a family of four, the income range is $72,650 to $96,300. That income should be steady for at least two years.

Applicants are also asked to have $2,000 in savings toward down payments costs and the ability to save an additional $3,000 over nine months. Their credit scores should be above 620.

Find the application at habitatliny.org.

Questions about eligibility and the application process can be directed to apply@habitatLINY.org or 631-422-4828, extension 115.

Habitat Long Island and the Town of Southampton Housing Authority will hold a wall-raising ceremony four their fourth home in Riverside on Tuesday, February 14, at 9 p.m. The address is 116 Vail Avenue, and applications will be available at the event.
