Spitnkitn Plays the Masons

authorStaff Writer on Mar 20, 2023

The Sag Harbor Masonic Music Series will host the all-female band Spitnkitn who play will play a rocking show at the Masonic Temple on Saturday, April 1, at 8 p.m. Based on the East End, these woman are sure to shake the timbers of the old building.

A photographer, a painter and a jeweler — each the mother of two — thrive on in-your-face, caffeine-fueled, soul-renewing, bourbon swilling musical creativity. Their weekly rocking out to loud music sessions are what keep them going. Self-described as the least-productive, really good band you’ve never heard of, Spitnkitn plays a lot of PJ Harvey plus the Stooges, X, Breeders, Pixies, Hole and Justin Bieber (yes, they do a pretty menacing cover of “Boyfriend”).

The Masonic Music Series is produced by the Sag Harbor Masonic Club and the Freemason Brothers of Wamponamon Lodge and features the best of the East End’s musical performers in an intimate setting. Performances are in the unique inner sanctum of the Masonic Temple. The $20 admission supports gifts to local charities. The Masonic Temple is located at 200 Main Street, Sag Harbor above the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum with plenty of parking in the rear of the building.
