Punk Me Tender at The White Room Gallery

authorStaff Writer on Jun 6, 2023

Los Angeles street artist Punk Me Tender will be the featured artist at The White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton from June 8 to June 25. The Show, “Love Me Tender,” focuses on the artist’s graffiti, florals and butterflies, and a RSVP reception with a live performance will be held at the gallery on Saturday, June 17, from 5 to 7 p.m.

“What French born LA artist with a fine art/fashion spin would not choose the Hamptons for the launch of his world ‘Love Me Tender’ tour? Not Punk Me Tender,” write Andrea McCafferty and Kat O’Neill, co-owners and co-directors of The White Room Gallery. “Welcome to the world of vibrancy. As Henri Matisse said, ‘Color helps to express light — not the physical phenomenon, but the only light that really exists, that in the artist’s brain.’

“And into that brain we go for this solo exhibit. Beauty, spirit, and transformation are the major themes that come up in Punk Me Tender’s art,” they continue. “His creations are fully instinctual, as in no rules. Butterflies have become the artist’s hallmark embodying freedom, wonder and change but that is only part of his always evolving oeuvre.”

Spin art is one of the techniques the artist uses to create his masterpieces, he says that this process is as transformative as the caterpillar turning to a butterfly. Punk Me Tender is also known for his original photography, bold and bright colors and high-gloss embellishments like glittery Swarovski crystals, diamond dust and glossy acrylic coatings that take his work that extra mile.

“Artists need to keep making art to remind people of what freedom looks like,” said Punk Me Tender. “I think that’s the real role of any artist.”

Punk Me Tender is a Parisian street artist who came to Los Angeles to follow the American dream. He is now living the said dream in his studio at the heart of Hollywood. His work is exhibited in over 30 high-end galleries around the world and is sought after by luxury hotel brands like Miami South Beach, SLS and Nobu. Live art performances are also part of the artist’s signature style and the one at The White Room Gallery opening on June 17 promises to be, according to McCafferty and O’Neill, “très magnifique.”

The White Room Gallery is at 2415 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton. For more information, visit thewhiteroom.gallery.
